Averna Amaro bitters
Amaro Averna 70cl 29%abv
Bitter aperitif liqueur made in Sicily, Italy since 1868
Created by Salvatore Averna in 1868, who received the recipe from friars that followed a tradition of fortifiing spirits with herbs and roots from the Benedictine abbeys. Salvatores son, Francesco decided to present the liqueur at different fairs all over Italy and abroad, which made Averna famous. In 1895 Averna was already well known and Francesco received a golden brooch with the insignia of the Savoy House from king Umberto I for it and in 1912 Vittorio Emanuele III bestowed the company Averna the right to print the royal coat-of-arms with the inscription "Royal Household Patent" on the bitter-liqueur label.
